2017 BMW Championship Tournament Tees Off This Weekend

On Wednesday, September 13, the 2017 BMW Championship was kicked off at Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, IL, when Rory McIlroy brought both the BMW Championship and FedEx Cup trophies to the course. While he was at it, McIlroy, the 2012 tournament winner, personally delivered a one-of-a-kind Championship Edition BMW M760i onto the course to surprise the vehicle's new owner.

Net proceeds from the tournament go to fund the Evans Scholars Foundation, which endows full college scholarships to meritorious young caddies. Since it began in 2007, the tournament has raised more than $24 million for the Evans Scholar Foundation, with ovr 10,600 caddies now having the distinction of being Evans alumni. Thanks to these scholarships, 965 caddies will be attending 19 major universities during the 2017-2018 academic year.

It's now a tradition for BMW to endow a full four-year scholarship grant that pays for both both tuition and housing and will be made in the name of the first PGA Tour player to record a hole-in-one at this year's tournament.

Tour players themselves have the opportunity to take home great prizes if they score a hole-in-one on either the 11th or 17th holes. The first player to register a hole-in-one on the 11th hole will win a hybrid electric BMW i8 sports car, while the first player to do so on the 17th hole will earn a BMW M760i xDrive.

The tournament is host to the top 70 golfers in the world and lasts through Sunday, September 17th. Since this is the next-to-last tournament in the PGA Tour Playoffs for the FedEx Cup, all four of this year's major tournament winners are entered, as is world number one ranked Dustin Johnson.

At BMW of Beaumont, our thoughts are with all of our friends and neighbors as the region works to recover from last month's tragedies.
