BMW Unveils the 2018 X3

July 27th, 2017 by

Last month, BMW introduced the 2018 X3 at the company’s plant in Spartanburg, SC plant. The all-new Sports Activity Vehicle delivers dynamic design, improved aerodynamics and the luxurious comfort you expect.

BMW has extended the vehicle’s wheelbase by 2.2 inches, elongated the hood and balanced the proportions to highlight the almost-perfect 50:50 weight distribution between the front and rear axles. The X3 will offer a factory-installed trailer hitch, a first for U.S. BMW Sports Activity Vehicles. More aerodynamic than ever, the X3 features optimized proportions, an active kidney grille, air curtains and a roof spoiler with Aero Blades at the sides.

The X3 xDrive30i comes with a TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter 4-cylinder inline engine that generates 248 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, delivering a -60 mph time of 6.0 seconds.

For the first time ever an M Performance auto is available in the model series, with the flagship X3 M40i offering a 3.0-liter M Performance TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engine that produces 355 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. The M40i also features available M Sport suspension, M Sport brakes, variable sport steering and dynamic damper control for a more engaged driving experience.

All X3 models offer a standard 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission with shift paddles that is matched to the engine’s specific characteristics, while standard BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive has been improved to operate more efficiently.

The 2018 BMW X3 will be available at dealerships later this fall.
